United States Patent Office Issues Securus Technologies Five (5) Additional Patents for Law Enforcement and Corrections

Securus Technologies Receives Approval from United States Patent Office for Industry Leading 162 Patents with 86 More Pending

DALLAS, TX October 19, 2016/PRNewswire/ — Securus Technologies, a leading provider of civil and criminal justice technology solutions for public safety, investigation, corrections and monitoring, announced today that the United States Patent Office issued five (5) new Securus patents in August to October, 2016, granted 36 patents in the last 3 years, and Securus has filed 90 new patent applications in the last 3 years. “We received word from the United States Patent Office that we were issued five (5) new patents in August to October, 2016,” said Richard A. (“Rick”) Smith, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Securus Technologies, Inc. “That increases our total patent portfolio to 248, the largest in our industry by far. The entire rest of the industry has 135 patents compared to our 248 patents, so we lead by 113 patents – and that number is distributed among 7 different competitors.” Securus’ five (5) new patents are outlined as follows:

Outside counsel did not disclose who their client was, so the comparison was independent, intellectually honest and non-biased. Counsel didn’t even tell the consulting firms what the list of patents was for each company.
