Company is unique among its competitors in achieving important capability
DALLAS, TX July 26, 2016/PRNewswire/ — Securus Technologies, a leading provider of civil and criminal justice technology solutions for public safety, investigation, corrections and monitoring, announced today that is has successfully completed an American Institute of Certified Public Accountants Statement on Service Organization Controls (SOC I). This previously was known as Accounting Standards No. 70 (SAS 70) certification. The SAS 70 certification has technically been replaced with SOC I nomenclature (Service Organizational Controls), but the audit requirements are the same. The SOC I certification indicates that an independent account and auditing firm has completed a comprehensive and in-depth evaluation and testing of Securus’ internal controls and related activities. This certification confirms that the company has effective controls and safeguards in place to manage information and data belonging to its customers. Incarcerated Individual telecommunications providers need to install and operate highly sophisticated call management platforms and related services to meet the security and public safety needs of correctional facilities. These platforms need to be able to accurately process, manage, and control millions of call records and call recordings for security and investigative purposes. A SOC I report reinforces to correctional facilities and their auditors that Securus has the necessary controls in place to manage this critical information. Securus is the only Incarcerated Individual telecommunications platform provider to have obtained a SOC I certification. “We are pleased that our auditors have again provided us this certification,” stated Richard A. (“Rick”) Smith, Chief Executive Officer of Securus Technologies. “Successfully completing this rigorous third-party independent review of our security and operational controls sets Securus apart from the rest of the Incarcerated Individual telecommunications industry. Our experience in providing correctional facilities with telecommunications and investigative services for more than 28 years has allowed us to develop and implement important and effective systems necessary to accurately process, bill, manage and control information and call records for our customers. “This is not simply an innocuous accounting certification – this represents an important milestone for the work that we do for prisons and jails in the United States. This certification tests all +1,350 Associates at Securus – how well and accurately that we do our jobs – so being the only facility based Incarcerated Individual telephone services provider having achieved this milestone once again is significant,” Smith said.About Securus Technologies
