Robert E. (“Bob”) Pickens Promoted to Chief Executive Officer Richard A. (“Rick”) Smith Assumes the Role of Senior Advisor to the Board of Directors at Securus Technologies
DALLAS, TX December 28, 2017/Business Wire/ — Securus Technologies, a leading provider of civil and criminal justice technology solutions for public safety, investigation, corrections and monitoring, announces a management transition plan first socialized in 2014. Robert E. (“Bob”) Pickens will be promoted to Chief Executive Officer, and Richard A. (“Rick”) Smith will assume the role of Senior Advisor to the Board of Directors at Securus Technologies. Prior to serving as President in 2014, Mr. Pickens held the positions of Vice President of Marketing and Chief Operating Officer. He held these same positions at Eschelon Telecom, Inc., a Minneapolis, Minnesota competitive local exchange carrier where he and Mr. Smith worked together for approximately nine (9) years before joining Securus Technologies for their recent additional nine (9) year stint. “I have worked with Bob for more than 18 years in the telecommunications, telecom systems, and high-tech government services sectors. I have great respect for him as a leader and I’m confident in his ability to lead Securus through the company’s next period of growth and evolution,” said Mr. Smith. “Bob has high integrity, is smart, and has a long-term track record of generating good operating, financial, and customer service results.” “I’m proud of the work Rick and I have done together and I’m honored to assume this role,” said Mr. Pickens. “In recent years Securus has transformed from a telecom provider into a government services, diversified technology business providing services and content across many different vertical markets. That strategy has created significant new opportunities for our business and for the people we service, with considerable headroom for additional growth.” “This is exactly the transition we envisioned and the company has been preparing for over the past several years,” said Mr. Smith. “Bob will seamlessly step in to the CEO role and continue building a business focused on customer service, organic revenue and EBITDA growth, and the industry’s broadest product set bar none.” Mr. Smith has led Securus Technologies for over nine (9) years and has an impressive record for organic revenue/EBITDA/Free Cash Flow growth, customer service enhancements, building the product set, and 22 growth transactions comprising add-on acquisitions of complementary businesses, acquisitions of new technologies and the formation of new partnerships. During his tenure, Securus invested more than $1 billion in products, capabilities, customer service, and making Securus the leader in high-tech services to Incarcerated Individuals, families, and the facilities/prisons/jails that Securus serves. Mr. Smith now transitions into the role of Senior Advisor to the Board of Directors at Securus Technologies. “This transition could not come at a better time – we have the best product set in the industry, we are winning new business at record levels, all of our customers are on the same core platform, we can provide the lowest rates in our industry, we have a good acquisition pipeline, and we have a seasoned team of 16 executives, so the time is perfect,” concluded Smith.About Securus Technologies
