Each Incarcerated Individual will receive one free call per day through September 7th to help them stay in contact with loved ones
DALLAS, TX September 1, 2016/PRNewswire/ — Securus Technologies, a leading provider of civil and criminal justice technology solutions for public safety, investigation, corrections and monitoring, announced today that it is joining with the Louisiana Department of Public Safety and Corrections (LA DOC) in allowing each Incarcerated Individual incarcerated at a LA DOC facility one free call, per day, to help them stay in contact with family and friends that may be impacted by recent floods. The free calling program will last through September 7th. “Connecting Incarcerated Individuals with family is a critical service that is core to what we do – and this is even more important in times of tragedy like the recent flooding in Louisiana. The flooding in Louisiana is so significant and severe that we need to take extraordinary measures to help make sure that communications are maintained so that we can help reduce anxiety and stress of Incarcerated Individuals and their loved ones,” said Richard A. “Rick” Smith, CEO of Securus Technologies. “The value of the calls that Securus will be connecting for free is approximately $300,000. In addition, Securus is making a cash contribution of $50,000 to the Incarcerated Individual welfare fund at Louisiana Department of Corrections in order to further assist Incarcerated Individuals there.” Through September 7th, Securus and the Department of Corrections will enable this feature to allow these phone calls – free to each Incarcerated Individual.
